Last Saturday Sarah, Brendon, and I ran our first Ready to Roll Bike Workshop. We had ten lovely ladies arrive at the Deli on the Corner with trepidation in their eyes unsure if they should waltz on in or turn and bolt! Nobody bolted and after a coffee and scone we headed out to Roto-orangi School in a convoy of cars.
We began the day with a little bike maintenance and by the end of mid morning we were all accomplished at changing a rear wheel puncture - without the need of a bloke or cell phone - which was a good thing as there was no cell phone coverage at the school.
A quick coffee break, which highlighted to the girls that Sarah and I did not function if we didn’t top up on caffeine every couple of hours...(!)…and we moved on to some more technical riding aspects.
Everyone took to the road with their head in a spin trying to put into practice all that we had covered. Of course the thunder and rain from the day before didn’t make an appearance – never doubted Cambridge’s weather for a second!
The Deli catered lunch was far too big, with hot soup, chicken salad, rolls, pasta salad and a sweet and fruit platter to full our tums. Delicious!
With full stomachs we moved onto the afternoon topic of riding in a bunch, or peloton, and all the do’s and don’ts that go with it.
Back onto the bikes to put into practice all that we had covered and as one lady so rightly commented “I didn’t know there was so much that I didn’t know”!!
After an exceptionally long and intensive day we freshened up and once again in convoy made the worth while trip to the Woodbox, for a cheeky little wine tasting and a few samples of tapas. From the looks on the faces of the people at the table it was a demanding, challenging yet very enjoyable day.
Sarah and I had a great day imparting as much as we could on all those that would listen or glance our way…there was no escaping a top tip, or morsel of advice…even if you had your head down…!
We want to thank and congratulate the wonderful group of ladies that attended our workshop.
We hope they enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed teaching it. Now they can ride with confidence and knowledge, developing their skills as they go.

Well, the Molenberg SUB Series has wrapped up with our final event in Cambridge last weekend - phew, what a summer!!
We’ve just had an absolute blast bringing the event to you all around the country, meeting a few familiar faces from the past events and loads of new faces that have made the Molenberg SUB Series their first ever event!
Like I’ve said at the events, these events just sum up the very guts about what SUB is, and why we started it. Helping to get ALL kiwi women ripping into exercise and life in general by giving you a REASON to get going.
So (without getting too cheesy about it all!), we just get such a buzz seeing it all happen in front of us with you guys out there Striding and Riding!
And obviously we wouldn’t be going anywhere without our partners, Molenberg. The Molenberg girls (and occasional ring-in guy!) have just been aMAZing..! It’s just so cool having a partner with an event – particularly when it’s our own brand that’s involved, and our own passion – that totally gets what we’re about. Not only gets it, but is just as passionate as we are with helping to get Kiwis going in a healthy way to life. So THANK-YOU guys!!
The team behind the scenes (who you would have contacted for SOS’s before the Events) – Az, Nicola and ALL the amazing volunteers around the country, have had an absolute ripper with all things organizational! And amidst the madness of the Molenberg SUB Series, Nic has been trying to sneak in as much training as possible for the Triathlon Nationals which were 8 March..! She was spotted some evenings after erecting marquees and putting up crowd control barriers, hopping straight on the indoor trainer or zipping off for a jog! Just as well all the work was worthwhile, as she has qualified for the World Triathlon Champs in Canada later this year. You ripper Nic..!!
Another permanent member to the clan is Jon Bridges. Not only does he encourage everyone, keep things up-beat and spend all day in the sun...he stays behind and helps fold the tents!
Roger (the other half of SUB who you may have spoken to through our website) has also got himself back into action since the Series started - training up for the Rotorua Marathon in May.
And you guys! – well done! We hope we’ve given you guys a reason to get going this summer, and helped launch you into winter together with motivation from all your other event mates to keep the momentum going. Keep on moving, grab your family and mates, attack another goal over winter, and we look forward to seeing you all next summer with another cracker Molenberg SUB Series!!
Check out this month's issue of VO2 Max which celebrates Sarah's career in detail.
A very solid day in the office earned Meshy Holt an age group victory (30-34yrs) in Taupo last Saturday.
Despite limited run training over the summer due to knee tendonitis, Meshy was still able to produce a superbe 42km run effort on-top of an already classy swim and bike time.
Meshy rode the 180km bike leg on her SUB Rosa pro carbon bike with a rear Disc wheel and the Zipp 303 front wheel that comes standard on the SUB bike.Because of the heinous winds on the day, Mesh wanted the feeling of control in her steering without having to back off the power from her pedaling.
Rumor has it that Meshy has accepted the qualifying spot into the World Championships in Kona this coming October...stay tuned for Meshy's update on her page for conformation!
Well done Meshy!

It was a short summer at home for SUB pro rider Rushlee Buchanan this year. She has already packed her bags and flown off-shore for another year of racing the US Pro circuit and later in the year, Europe with the NZ Women's Road Team.
Rush’s departure was almost straight off the back of competing in Bev May’s 2 Day women’s tour in Morrinsville (finishing a very creditable 4th place overall) and slotting in with the panel of the SUB crew at Mt Eden Avanti + Women’s info night last Monday evening.
Team Tibco’s website is www.teamtibco.com
You can following the teams progress directly or Rushlee will be blog here once a month.
Good luck Rushlee!!!
Toni Bradshaw had a solid victory over the weekend in Morrinsville's Bev Mays Women’s 2 Day Tour.
Bradshaw was within the leading 10 riders after day one, only trailing by a few minutes. But it wasn't until the second day when she dominated the tour, winning the last two stages.

“This is great. I’m really pleased,” Holt said. “I’m not currently in the high performance squad and I always wanted to do an Ironman. So I have been riding less to mix in the swimming and running training.
