The Design Process of creating SUB bikes is fun. We have the ability to design and make what we think is the best product for you…the bike rider.
The Geometry is always the first step in the process. Like an architect’s design of a house, it is the detailed design on paper and the beginning of the construction.
From there, we need to look at the frames general design, rider requirements and demands, the weight and ride compliance of the frame and, of course, the aesthetic look.
Once the frames are constructed...we need to build them with components that will compliment the bike.
Part of the design process is product testing. We know bikes are put to the test once they are purchased, but we like to be proactive...not reactive with what is selected. So prior to the purchase, we like to test the equipment before you ride it.
Pictured above is Sarah descending her local climb (Maungakawa) testing a combination of sample forks, tyres, wheels. The process was repeated all morning...luckily she was chuffer driven back to the top each time. But by doing this, she was able to put the equipment under heavy load and provide rider feedback on product that felt right…before any decisions were made on what gets put on the production bikes.
