The geometry of a bike frame is a matrix of measurements and angles that if married properly, should provide a sublime riding experience.
These measurements are precise. 1-2mm of adjustment anywhere makes a huge difference and can change how the bike corners, balances or feels comfort wise.
Like many other Sports in this modern age, Women require their own equipment for better performance, fit and enjoyment. If you think of the introduction of the ladies golf club, they have been in the market for many years…the shaft is slightly shorter, have a little more whip for forgiveness and the grip is slightly smaller than the standard men’s grip.
The same rule applies to SUB women’s cycling equipment…every contact point on the bike has been adjusted or manufactured to fit you.
The frame is specifically designed geometry wise to fit a women’s physique. Women naturally have longer legs proportionally to the length of their backs compared to men. Most women would have no problem fitting a men’s bike leg length wise….the seat could be adjusted up and down, the problem lies with the reach to the handle bars!
The first generation of Female specific bikes solved this problem by simply designing the bikes very upright to cater for the ‘reach’ problem…and some still do.
We believe at SUB after thousands of kilometres ridden in the saddle by Sarah herself and our designers…
- A rider has to be centre balanced on a bike...this is critical. You need to safely control the bike at high speeds or down hill. Being too forward is a safety issue for handling of any bike.
- A riders efficient pedalling technique should never be adjusted so that they can reach the handlebars…adjust the bike around your pedalling technique…your legs are the engine room!
So we have spent hundreds of hours coming up with the ultimate blend of fit and performance that not only keeps you in the traditional pedalling stance, but we have designed a bike that give you reach and handling that hasn’t been compromised.
